My friend, Tina told me a generic experience from her gym last week…. she said:
I was happily working out on the cross trainer when suddenly I saw the person next to me was going all out fully excited and here I was struggling to finish one step after another…. Just felt like a Loser, fully demotivated 😒.
In my mind, I told myself to play some better music next time, so I could push myself…. I even thought about getting a pre workout supplement…. various such thoughts crossed my mind while I pushed and sweated on that dreadful cross trainer that day. Basically, I was mentally beating myself for not pushing enough 😒
Suddenly, I peeked to check out his difficulty level and guess what… he had put his machine on Level 3 for Incline and Level 5 for Resistance….
Hah! I instantly got my mojo back…..I was on Level 20 for Incline (that’s the maximum my cross trainer goes to) and Level 60 on Resistance 😎Within seconds I felt I was the Hero and that other guy was a Loser 😜
This simple experience shared by Tina inspired me to think deeply….this is what we do repeatedly in our daily lives…. we Judge Others and unfortunately, we inappropriately Judge Ourselves too without analysing the entire situation.
Tina had no background for her thoughts….. maybe that guy was just doing cool down cardio after his weight training, or maybe he was just about to join a class and was waiting for the class to begin…. maybe he has varicose veins and his doctor has advised him to not go beyond this level…. There could be numerous scenarios…. Isn’t it!! But nothing stopped Tina (in the above example) from building her own castles in the air 😜and in driving conclusions in her favour or otherwise!
The point I wish to make is that we should strive to become a better version of our own selves and SHOULD NOT get bogged down by what others are achieving or losing. Please remember that it is their journey and they have full right to lead it the way they think is right.
We need to concentrate and utilize our energies in improving ourselves! Next time…. feel happy when you even improve your personal score by as minimal as 0.1%, as that’s what will make a difference to you 👍in the long run.
To conclude: When you work on yourself and it’s not a race against others…. there is 100% surety of continuous improvement in your performance with every effort that you put in….. keep up the good work my friend, one step at a time 😊You should be your focus and then sky is the limit, trust me!
