Tina is on her new baking expedition these days….she has baked her first cake all by herself! It is her Mom’s Birthday today and Tina always wanted to gift something very personalized and special to her Mom…what’s a better gift than her first baked cake! While she was putting the cake in the box, she realized that the cake has a small lump at the bottom :(. May be the dough did not mix that well like she thought…..Nonetheless, she has decorated the cake with a beautiful cherry on top!!

Tina baked this Cake with all her effort, love and determination as she thought it would be a perfect Birthday Gift to delight her Mom!! But this lump is bothering her….Should Tina be embarrassed or excited? Should she give disclaimer to her Mom about the lump when she gifts the cake to her or let it be, hopefully, Susan may not even notice…Tina is in a dilemma!

Sharing some thoughts that may cross our mind, when we think of such a situation:

  • Tina should have done more trials before baking a perfect Birthday cake for her Mom!
  • Its ok, they can discard the lump and enjoy the rest of the cake!
  • Its the thought that matters!
  • Tina could have bought another cake from the bakery and tried baking another cake for her Mom later!

Thoughts have no limit and depending on the way we think (half glass full or half glass empty) the direction of our thought process can totally vary in any particular situation!

By the way, Tina chose to be upfront and told Susan about the lump but Susan’s reaction was priceless….Susan hugged Tina with tears of love in her eyes…. kissed her lovely daughter and taught her one of life’s best lessons…. Learn to accept and respect your Qualities and your Flaws equally!

We all are humans and each one of us have our Qualities and our Flaws…but what we wish to highlight in ourselves and what we wish to see in others….both these options are totally in our own hands, trust me!

Sometimes, we are so conscious of our one little flaw that we think that flaw is our life and forget to be grateful for all the blessings that we enjoy! Just like Tina, who got more worried about that little lump, forgetting that she has managed to bake a beautiful cake and decorated with perfect icing & a cherry on top! Lump is a Flaw but the rest of the cake is truly a Blessing, isn’t it? So decide your thoughts and actions wisely – whether you wish to be excited for the blessings in your life or be embarrassed with that little Flaw you have!!

P.s. I had created this blog draft 2 weeks back but did not get the time to finalize it. For past few days, I have been over thinking about something but today while I was editing my own blog for publishing, I have been reminded of all the Blessings that I have in my life and I am so grateful for each one of them!
