One letter “I” & one word “can” make up “I can” & “can I” – the way they are placed… it is so interestingly different. Isn’t it!
Most of our lives, we are struggling and debating in our minds with “can I” mindset and never let ourselves believe that yes “I can”. Do you agree?
Trust me, the day you change this mindset within yourself, then, the sky is the limit.
Till the time, we are questioning ourselves with “can I” attitude, the answer we will get is “No” 99% of the time; “Wait for some more time”, “Let it be”, “Why now”, “What if I fail”, “It’s too risky”, etc.
Are you able to relate to the above excuses? I think most of us would have done this for one thing or another, during the last 24 hours. This is human nature; our first reflex is usually No rather than Yes. We don’t want to come out of our comfort zone and more than that we don’t wish to challenge our mindset and our thoughts. We wish to remain in status quo, isn’t it!
Recently we had gone on a vacation to Bali and our travel agent had booked individual ATV rides (an exciting off-road adventure that takes you through muddy jungles, cascading waterfalls, rice fields, and iconic natural caves) for three of us (my husband, my son and I). Being the champion of “can I” attitude, my family expected that I will be too scared and will ride pillion with either my husband or my son. But thanks to a healing session that I had taken a little prior to our Bali trip, I had promised myself to fight my fears and I decided to take up the challenge with “I can” mindset.
Before the ride started, I repeated 100 times in my mind – I am fearless, I am courageous and if so many younger kids and elderly can do so, then so “can I”. Trust me, I not only surprised my family but myself too. The way I enjoyed that ride with so many moments when I felt extremely vulnerable and scared but I kept going just for that “I can” attitude.
It’s not just about things with adrenaline rush – it is about our day to day activities too; small little decisions that we procrastinate, find excuses or just don’t do it because we are scared or we don’t trust our own abilities. In those moments, we have to just believe in ourselves and push our limits and remind ourselves that – I will know if “I can” only when I try it, otherwise the needle will remain stuck forever at “can I”
Be your own master; reclaim the choice to decide “I can” or “can I”.
